Mint, Corsican
Mentha requienii
The lowest growing and most unique-looking of the mints, Corsican mint also stands out as the flavoring for Creme de Menthe and other desserts and liqueurs. It has a very strong, crisp scent that is unmistakeable.
The plant forms a dense, low carpet with such tiny, bright green leaves that from a distance it is almost moss-like. However, it can handle drier climates than moss and is excellent for the rock garden. It has a cooling effect on a garden, because of its fresh, stimulating scent, its light color, and the coolness of its springy foliage when walked upon barefoot in the heat of summer.
Mint, Corsican Growing Tips
Little maintenance required. It's low growth makes it especially good in rock gardens or between stones in a garden path.
Sowing Information Seeds don't always produce the exact variety, so the recommended planting method is from root division from an existing plant stock or cuttings. Cuttings will root easily in a moist potting medium, or even in water. If you are dividing an existing plant it is best done in the fall.
